Clear road blockade: NMWC
ITANAGAR, Aug 11: The Nirjuli Market Welfare Committee (NMWC) has appealed to the PWD to make all efforts to clear the road blockade at several places on NH 52 A, particularly in Nirjuli area.
The Committee in a release today said the commuters are facing lot of inconvenience at Bage Tinali opposite Sango Motors Servicing Centre due to landslide and debris which is not yet cleared by the concerned department after the heavy downpour on August 5. Even the said servicing centre had to close its establishment as the traffic diverted their route through the vearandah of the centre due to road blockade, the Committee claimed.

ITANAGAR, Aug 11: The volleyball tournament organized by Yupia Township Staff Welfare Committee to mark the Independence Day celebration began at Yupia yesterday.
The tournament was inaugurated by Manjit Singh, Assistant Commandant Officer 31st BN ITBP, Yupia Head Quarter as a chief guest. He encouraged all the participating teams and organizing committee to maintain rule and regulation and play the game with true sportsman spirit.
The sports goods/items needed for the tournament were provided by the ITBP force while a JCB to clear the volleyball court was provided by the managing director of NH52A SRK Company.
The opening match played was played between Staff Yupia Town VS Hostalam Village in which the former defeated the latter to win full point.
In another match, Tarajuli defeated Nyorchi Village and earned full point.

Aalo, Aug 11 : The West Siang District Magistrate Amjad Tak has banned all types of illegal land development, including earth cutting, building construction, fencing etc. on Government land within Aalo township by any individual or Govt. departments. Those who have been given allotment also must obtain no objection certificate (NOC) from the competent authority to carry out such works.

Development on right track
Dear Editor,
This is apropos the letter written by Techi Tullo, Sagalee block NCP president in your esteemed daily on August 11.
To have a proper town planning for Sagalee township, first of all we urge upon the writer of the letter who engaged himself in negative thinking about the development process being taken up by dynamic leader and PWD and UD minister Nabam Tuki to think in positive way.
Regarding the blockage of road communication due to heavy rainfall on August 5, we would like to mentioned here that that eight to ten numbers of machineries have already been deployed and engaged at the blockade site for immediate restoration of road link. Most of the road communications in the state are through hilly region. As the roads are meandering through hilly region, road communication gets disrupted during monsoon due to landslide followed by heavy rain. Therefore, the concerned minister can not be held responsible for the damages caused by nature.
For the reported poor civic amenities, the concerned MLA/Minister is not responsible, rather the citizen should maintain and create civic sense.
We would also like inform that all the subject teacher posts for every stream in Govt. Sec. School, Sagalee have already been sanctioned and the concern department is conducting interview in this regard. With the good efforts made by Minister Nabam Tuki, all the schools under Sagalee constituency are running with full facilities. So the allegation leveled by Techi Tullo is baseless and condemnable.
The Sagalee town has been taken up as urban township for which infrastructure development activities have already been taken up rapidly as per the specified norms. Instead of appreciating the minister for bringing development at the area such a tiny and baseless comments are regrettable.

Dear Editor,
Apropos the letter “We are yet to see development” written by Techi Tullo, NCP Sagalee Block Unit President alleging Nabam Tuki, Minister, PWD and UD as well as President of Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee of not concentrating more in developmental works. It is evident from the whole letter written by the writer which seems to be politically motivated and an attempt to tarnish the image of Nabam Tuki who is serving relentlessly for all round development of downtrodden people of Sagalee Assembly Constituency for last 20 years.
From my outmost knowledge, I believe Techi Tullo is innocent and blind, it seems that whole para of wild allegation against our beloved leader is instigated and written by some third person who is black sheep of our society and never participated in developmental activities of Sagalee.
It is fact that we voted Nabam Tuki as our representative from 15th Sagalee Assembly
Constituency for the 4th consecutive terms because of his dedication, sincerity and
yeoman service to the poor and down-
When we look back to development of state under his stewardship as APCC president and as Minister PWD and UD, we find that many centrally sponsored schemes such as State Civil Secretariat, Assembly House, Trans Arunachal Highway, N.F Railway Greenfield Airport, SPA fund, JNNURM scheme etc are going on under the UD ministry. UD was fully created separately, before that there was DUDA which was only an agency.
In regard to road blockage between Doimukh to Sagalee and Capital Complex it is because of heavy rainfall which is the act of nature, deforestation and illegal earth cutting i.e. human error. Therefore, for such act of nature, only one person should not be blamed, because PWD and UD Minister is also human like us.
From the above fact and circumstances, I ask the writer to beg public apology to the people of 15th Sagalee Assembly Constituency for defaming our beloved leader and misguiding common and innocent people of our state and discouraging developmental activities. Also urge the District Administration to take suo moto action against the writer for misusing freedom of press.

WHO warns against leprosy
Leprosy, an ancient disease which causes lesions on the skin and attacks nerves in the hands and feet, resulting in disability, was declared officially eliminated in India in 2005 according to WHO guidelines on prevalence rates.
The WHO allows governments to declare that leprosy is no longer a public health risk if the prevalence rate falls below one case per 10,000 people.

Jairampur, Aug 11: Within the gap of 37 days, the 18th Assam Rifles under Dah division with their vigilant and humanitarian approach added another colourful feather on their cap by effecting surrender of a hardcore ULFA Sergeant Arup Chetia alias Junmoni Gogoi along with arms.
Earlier on July 3, four NSCN (IM) cadres surrendered with large number of arms before this battalion which included two 7.72 self loading rifles looted by militants from security forces. Meanwhile fruition of 18 AR intelligence team’s month long persuasion came in the form of dreaded ULFA sergeant Arup Chetia surrendering with AK 81 assault rifle, two magazines and 60 rounds of ammunitions. ITANAGAR, Aug 11: The All Arunachal Pradesh Students Union (AAPSU) has expressed pained at the unfortunate turn of events taking place in the state. In a press release issued this evening, AAPSU called for united effort from every politician to solve burning problems of Arunachal.
“When whole state is reeling under multifaceted problems, most of the legislatures are camping outside state and shying away from their responsibility. AAPSU strongly condemns such legislature who fails to live upto their responsibility when their people need them the most,” stated AAPSU.
Arunachal, especially the Capital Complex, is reeling under acute problems in all fronts for the past many months but the stoic silence of these Ministers and MLAs are putting the innocent people into complete mess.
“Furthermore, the all important State Planning Board (SPB) meeting has not been done yet in the state. SPB meeting is an integral part of the developmental process but unfortunately our state, known for its sluggishness, is yet to conduct one. In absence of this SPB meeting, the stipends of all the students are yet to be released due to which the poor students are suffering a lot.
Further AAPSU appealed to the State Government to initiate SPB meeting at the earliest so that the development process is not halt and the students gets their stipends in due time. AAPSU also called on politicians to refrain from political bickering and to concentrate more on solving the crisis which has engulfed the common public of the state like road blockage, power failure, landslide, proper water supply.

ITANAGAR, Aug 11: There are no experienced and required lecturers in the North East Homeopathic Medical College and Hospital(NEHMCH) Itanagar. The college is run by only three regular lecturers and has no any MBBS doctor for elite subject, said Arunachal Pradesh College Forum in a release today.

Cause of disease: Japanese encephalitis is caused by "JE" virus and transmitted by mosquito bite (Culex species). Amplifier is pig virus undergoes rapid multiplication in pig. Human acquires the virus via infected mosquito bite.
Vulnerable age group: Mostly children between the age group of 1 to 15 years and most adults acquires immunity to the disease.
Clinical features: Initially presents with fever, headache, joint pain followed by alteration insensorium, behavior disorder and motor disability. Mortality ranges between 10 to 70 per cent with several complications in survivals like epilepsy, mental retardation, speech problems, movement disorders and paralysis.

To summarize, Japanese encephalitis a highly fatal disease with no effective treatment and in our scenario, no proper ICU facility, it can only be controlled by mass vaccination, health education, awareness and mosquito control.

Youth Force and International Youth Day

ITANAGAR, Aug 11: Anywhere in the world young people constitute a large force. In India, those between the age of 15 to 35 form more than 50 percent of the total population which comprises students, employees, workers, farmers and persons from various professions. They are energetic, enthusiastic and full of zeal. Unfortunately a large number of them are without any direction. It is dangerous to allow them to remain idle, as it would increase their frustration. It is a great national wastage if these energetic hands and brains are not engaged meaningfully. No country can afford such wastage.
In terms of HIV/AIDS epidemic, youth remains vulnerable largely because of physical,
psychological, and social attributes of adolescence. Adolescents often are not able
to comprehend fully the extent of their exposure to risk. Societies often compound
young people's risk by making it difficult for them to learn about HIV/AIDS and reproductive
health. Moreover, many youth are socially inexperienced and dependent on others.
Peer pressures easily influence them-
What needed is that they should be taken into confidence and given a direction—some constructive work in terms of generating awareness and life skill development. The massive manpower in form of youth can do wonders provided its enthusiasm is harnessed for development work and awareness generation.
It is in this direction that U N Assembly on 17th December 1999 declared 12th of August as International Youth Day. This day is observed all over the world every year to draw attention of the Government, Non Governmental Organizations and any general body in youth related issues worldwide which is expressed by conducting seminars, workshops, sports and cultural events, concerts and meetings.

In Arunachal Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh State Aids Control Society (APSACS) in collaboration with National Service Scheme (NSS) and NGO partners is observing the day through various activities like skit play, drama, dance and songs to generate awareness on HIV/AIDS, Sports event & Literary Competition on HIV/AIDS for School students throughout the state.
